~Help Paying for Childcare in Maine~

In case you are not aware, there is a relatively new state program that provides assistance to families to help pay for childcare.  This state program, called the Child Care Affordability Program, provides a subsidy to parents to offset childcare expenses.  It can also provide a subsidy even if a family member is caring for your child.

There are income limits to be eligible for this state program, but these limits were significantly increased just last month.  For example, for a single parent with one child, the new family income limit is $89,000, which would qualify nearly all school employees in that demographic.  For a family of four, the family income limit is $130,898.

You can contact the state to see if you would qualify and find more information here:  https://www.maine.gov/dhhs/ocfs/support-for-families/child-care/paying-for-child-care
